Pat York
Global Director, Well Engineering & Project Management
Weatherford International

Pat York has been in the Oil and Gas Industry for 40 years. He is currently the Global Director with the Well Engineering & Project Management for Weatherford, Ltd. He has been involved Solid Expandable Technology since its global implementation in 1998. Since 2004 has collaborated with clients on complex drilling projects.

Throughout his career he has served in several management, business development and operational roles as well as executive management in the solid expandable and drilling hazard mitigation arena. Before joining Weatherford he was with the vice president of commercialization for Enventure Global Technology after his tenures in management with Halliburton and Dresser Atlas.

He has participated in SPE / IADC / OTC / SPWLA and technical conferences over the past 35 years which has included sitting as chair and members of both drilling, completion and reservoir evaluation committees. In addition, he has authored or co-authored over 30 technical papers and articles, several chapters in industry technical books and text books and several patents over his 40 year career.

He received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Northwestern State University in 1972 and pursued his MBA degree there in economics and management there before launching his career in the oil industry.

Thomas Chen

Thomas Chen earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston. He has been actively involved in a leadership role with the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE) in both professional and student chapters. In his first start in the energy industry, Thomas received a position as a Sale Coordinator for the petroleum equipment company, and then he received a position at Cameron on the OPTIMUS Global Integration assignment. Currently, he serves a role as Field Engineer at Cal-Dive International for well projects in the area of completion, P&A, and decommissioning, for both domestic and international offshore operations.

Thomas believes that the opportunity to develop key skills can provide the much needed foundational base on which to launch a successful career. Thomas also enjoys meeting and collaborating with petroleum industry professionals, through new people, places, and cultures, in order to provide a greater view of the energy industry, around him.

Flavio Dias De Moraes, Ph.D.

Flavio Dias de Moraes, an SPE member, is a senior well engineer working on ultra-deep water well drilling and completion design. Has worked as Technical Consultant in well completions and material science, and had several management assignments, including: Asset Well Construction Manager, and Well Engineering Manager at Petrobras R&D Center. Since 2007, he is the Well Engineering Manager for Petrobras America, Inc., and responsible for the well design for Cascade and Chinook Fields in the Lower Tertiary - GOM. He holds 2 patents, has published numerous papers, and has participated in various SPE organized events. De Moraes holds a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa, a M.Sc. in material science from COPPE/UFRJ –Brazil, and a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from I.M.E. – Brazil.

Robin MacMillan

Robin Macmillan attained a degree in Geology from the University of Leeds in England and started his oilfield career 35 years ago on rigs in South Texas. Since then Robin has worked in many countries including eight years in Latin America. Having joined ReedHycalog in 1991, Robin worked in several sales and management positions including the management of Schlumberger Drilling and Measurements in Canada. Robin was appointed as President of ReedHycalog in 2008. His current position is Senior Vice President for Business Development at National Oilwell Varco. Robin is married with three children and lives in Houston, Texas.

Tim Marvel
Director – Office of the President
Baker Hughes

Tim Marvel is Director – Office of the President for Baker Hughes’s Drilling and Evaluation group. He has 17 years of drilling-related experience at Baker Hughes in a variety of technology, field engineering, sales, marketing, and management roles including hydraulics research, engineering design, manufacturing, application engineering based in Midland Texas, operations management in SE Asia, and product management. Prior to his current role, he was Director – Product Development for the Hughes Christensen product line at Baker Hughes. Within these roles, he has both lived and traveled extensively internationally.

Tim has authored an SPE paper and holds 9 patents (with multiple pending applications). He is a licensed Professional Engineer, has been a member of SPE for 17 years, currently serves on the board of the Drilling and Completing Troubles Zones Forum, was the Program Chair for the 2003 AADE National Technical Conference, and was the Chairman of the 2005 AADE National Technical Conference. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.

Gregory Nutter
VP of Sales and Operations
Enventure

J. Gregory Nutter, P.E., a twenty-three year oil industry veteran, is Enventure's Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Western Hemisphere.

Greg has had postings in the US (Lafayette LA, Houston TX, and Anchorage AK) with Schlumberger Drilling & Measurements. He has also had overseas postings in Venezuela and Brazil with Schlumberger. Greg held several positions with Schlumberger in operations management, product development, technology deployment and account management.

Most recently, Greg was the Director of Marketing for Xtreme Coil Drilling. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Greg is a member of several industry and professional organizations including the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and the American Petroleum Institute (API).

Warren Schneider

Current responsibilities include providing strategic, commercial and technical support in developing new technology for accurate and sensitive drilling measurements for Pason, a leading global provider of specialized data management systems for land-based and offshore rigs worldwide. Prior to joining Pason Warren held senior management positions at Tesco, Gulf Publishing (WorldOil.com), Grant Prideco, Cooper Cameron, and Lone Star Steel Company. Warren been active with DCTZ since 2005, is a member of SPE, AADE, and NOMADS, has degrees in Engineering (UT) and Business (MBA –SMU) and is a registered Professional Engineer (Texas).

Amanda Ohm

Amanda graduated in August 2010 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. She began working at Baker Hughes on the rapid response team making PDC bit modifications. In May 2011 Amanda moved to the hole enlargement team focusing on product engineering and sustaining for the GaugePro XPR expandable reamer.

Ron Sweatman

Ron Sweatman recently retired from Halliburton where he was Chief Technical Professional - Global Technical Solutions for many years based in Houston. He specializes in advanced technologies for well engineering (design, cementing, integrity, repair, etc.), drilling enhancement (wellbore strengthening, lost circulation control, UG blowout control, kick prevention, etc.), and reservoir management (monitoring, flow-control, leak-sealing, enhanced oil/gas recovery, CO2 sequestration, etc.). Ron majored in Chemistry at LSU and Petroleum Engineering at USL. In all, he has 44 continuous years of oil and gas industry experience while residing at 11 locations around the world. He serves on 20 industry committees, has co-authored more than 60 technical publications, received 7 industry awards, and invented over 30 patented technologies.
